Alzheimer's Dementia

 

Dementia is progressive dysfunction of which leads to gradually increasing restriction of daily activities. Most known type of dementia is Alzheimer's. Dementia not only affects patients but also people surrounding them. Alzheimer's dementia first destroys cell in brain and leads to mental disorder. Dementia means irrationality. It occurs after the age of 60's. It doubles for every 5 years increase in age. The most found symptom in Alzheimer's dementia is confusion. Slowly progressing destruction of nerve cells in brain leads to Alzheimer's dementia.

Problems that occur due to this Alzheimer's are problem in decision-making, problem in thinking, language problems, change in personality, and loss of initiative, problem with abstract thinking. This Alzheimer's is divided into three stages. They are mild, moderate, and severe. As the stage goes on the severity of the disease also increases. Individual course for this disease is, however, very variable. There is no cure for Alzheimer's but medication can improve the symptoms of this disease. Loss of memory may cause frustration and may separate from the family. As we age, our body changes and often times we lose capabilities that we once had. Alzheimer's, many feel that they are losing more than just abilities but rather that they are losing their minds. The physician Alois Alzheimer's first described Alzheimer's in 1907. The most common symptom of Alzheimer's is confusion.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia. There are three common forms of dementia. They are Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia and lewy body dementia. Alzheimer's disease involves a loss of nerve cells in the areas of brain and other mental functions. Vascular dementia occurs when arteries feeding the brain becoming blocked. Lewy bodies develop within cells of midbrain, beneath the cerebral hemispheres. Dementia isn't always due to Alzheimer's. Its better to contact a physician if we think that we are experiencing memory loss.

A head injury, a stroke, or a problem like brain tumor or a problem like Alzheimer's disease cause damage of brain cells. Some people have family history of dementia. Not everyone who has dementia has all the same symptoms such as memory loss, thinking, communicating with people, poor judgment, depression, tension, fear, etc. personality changes and loss of initiative are also symptoms of dementia. There are three levels of Alzheimer's. They are mild, moderate and severe. There is no cure for this disease but we can control this disease by taking caring about them and being effective with them.
