Stages of Alzheimer's

Alzheimer's causes due to progressive illness or disorder of brain. There are millions of people who are suffering from Alzheimer's disease nowadays. There are seven stages in Alzheimer's disease.

Each of the stages Alzheimer's disease may bring about changes in everyday activities, behavior and mood, and cognition (that is, memory and thinking). But you will find that there are many steps you can take to manage the symptoms successfully. 7 stages in the progression of Alzheimer's Disease are :-

  1. No cognitive impairment (normal adult) - In first stage no symptoms of memory loss are found.
  2. Very mild cognitive decline - Also called as forgetfulness. At this stage very mild cognitive decline. At this stage Alzheimer's feel that they are experiencing memory loss. But these problems are not evident during medical examination.
  3. Mild cognitive decline - Third stage is called as mild cognitive decline. At this early stages of Alzheimer's can be diagnosed in some, but all individuals will not have symptoms. Ability to remember names will decrease; Alzheimer's will misplace objects.
  4. Moderate cognitive decline - Fourth stage is also called as mild or early-stage Alzheimer's. It is moderate cognitive decline. At this stage medical tests will clear cut the deficiencies. Symptoms at this stage are forgetting things, which happened just now. Reduced memory of personal history. Capacity to perform complex works decreases.
  5. Moderately severe cognitive decline - Fifth stage is also called moderate or mid-stage of Alzheimer's. It is moderately severe decline of cognitive. A gap in memory occurs and deficits in cognitive function emerge. Symptoms at this stage are become confused; need help while choosing clothes, etc.
  6. Severe cognitive decline - Also called as moderately severe or mild-stage Alzheimer's disease. It is severe cognitive decline. Symptoms at this stage are memory difficulties will be worsen, personality changes will occur, disruptions will occur at normal sleep.
  7. Very severe cognitive decline - This is the final stage of Alzheimer's where the individual concerned will lose the ability to speak, respond to their environment and lose the ability to control body movement. Seventh stage is also called as severe of late-stage Alzheimer's. Symptoms of this stage are they lose ability to speak, inability to walk or sit without assistance or support, to smile and to support their own head. Movement also becomes rigid as muscles seize and reflexes slow and swallowing becomes impaired too etc.

Alzheimer's is one form of dementia. There are three types of dementia. They are Alzheimer's dementia, vascular dementia, and lewy body. Alzheimer's dementia occurs because of fail of nerve cells in areas of brain and other mental functions. Vascular dementia occurs when arteries feeding the brain are blocked. Lewy bodies occur in mid brain or cerebral hemisphere. There are many symptoms for this disease such as problem in talking, problem in language, problem in walking, etc. There are many factors, which cause this Alzheimer's disease such as family factors, genetics, hereditary, head injury, brain tumor, etc. There is no cure for this disease. We should take personal care and affection who are suffering from this Alzheimer's disease.
